Google Business Profile websites
What happened to Google Business Profile websites
Google’s Business Profile used to include a simple website builder that filled a site in from the profile. In 2024 Google turned it off. If your profile’s website link used to point to one of those sites, here’s what happened and what you can do now.
What Google turned off
The sites made with that builder lived at addresses ending in business.site (or negocio.site). Google turned them off in 2024. For a while, visitors were sent on to the business’s profile instead; that ended on June 10, 2024, and the old addresses stopped working.
Was my business affected?
If your website address ended in business.site, yes. Those addresses were removed from the website field of the profiles that used them. Your Business Profile itself carried on as before: your listing, hours, photos and reviews were not part of the change.
If your profile now shows no website, the listing is all people see of you when they find you on Google Search or Maps.
Your options now
- Build one yourself with a site builder. It costs the least money, and the time is yours.
- Hire a designer for a one-off site, then look after hosting and changes yourself or pay for them separately.
- Have it built and run for you. That’s what Localkept does: we write and design the site, host it, keep it current and make changes whenever you ask.
How Localkept would do it
We build a complete site from what’s already public about your business: your own website, and public records such as a license board where one applies. That works best for a business with some public record beyond its Google listing. Your Google reviews are shown on it live, exactly as written. You see the finished site at a private link before you pay anything.
Once it’s live, put its address in your profile’s website field. On the $150 plan we keep your Business Profile current for you too: hours and services updated, photos and posts added, and replies to your reviews that you approve before they’re posted.
What it costs
$99 a month for the website, or $150 a month with your Google Business Profile kept current. No setup fee. Month to month. Stop whenever you like. See what’s included.
Questions
Did I lose my reviews?
No. The change removed the websites, not the profiles. Your reviews stay on your Business Profile, and on a Localkept site they show live as well.
Can I keep my old business.site address?
No, those addresses stopped working. Your new site goes on a domain of your own, the one you have now or a new one, and it stays yours if you ever leave.
My business.site page was my only website. Can you still build one?
It depends on what else is public. We don’t build from your Google listing, so with no website of your own and no public record such as a license, we may not be able to make a preview. Ask anyway: we review every request, and if we can build one from what’s already public about your business, we email you the private link.
