Terms of Service

Last updated October 13, 2026.

These terms cover localkept.com, the website previews we send to businesses, and the Localkept service for customers. Please read them before you subscribe. If anything here is unclear, write to michael@localkept.com.

Who we are

Localkept is operated by Michael Kissinger, a sole proprietor doing business as Localkept (“Localkept”, “we” or “us”). “You” means the person or business using our site, receiving a preview, or subscribing.

Previews

We build preview websites for local businesses from what is already public about them: the business’s own website and, for licensed trades, public licensing records. We send the owner a private link.

  • A preview is a concept by Localkept. It is marked that way on every page and is not the business’s official website.
  • It is unlisted and asks search engines not to index it. It asks visitors for nothing, and its contact form sends nothing. We note which pages are viewed, as our Privacy Policy describes.
  • It shows the business’s name, logo and details as they appear publicly, so the owner can see their own business in the design. Its photos are stock-style images made with AI, never the business’s own.
  • It expires after 30 days. The owner can remove it at any time with one click, and we then don’t contact them about it again.

Receiving a preview doesn’t create any obligation. You only become a customer if you choose to subscribe.

Plans and prices

  • Website: $99 a month. Your site, designed and written for you; hosting and upkeep; your domain, current or new; one business mailbox at your domain; changes whenever you ask, by text, email or your owner portal; and your Google reviews, shown live on your site.
  • Website + Google Business Profile: $150 a month. Everything in Website, plus your Google Business Profile kept current: hours and services updated, photos and posts added, and replies to your reviews, each drafted by us and posted only after you approve it.

There is no setup fee. Prices are in US dollars and don’t include any sales tax that applies. Before your site goes live, you confirm the details that matter: the phone and email where leads should go, your domain, your logo, and anything we couldn’t confirm from public sources.

Billing

Both plans are billed monthly, in advance, starting on the day you subscribe. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your subscription renews each month until you stop it. If we ever change a price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you can stop before then.

Stopping

Month to month. Stop whenever you like. Tell us by text, email or in your portal. Your site stays up until the end of the month you’ve paid for, there’s no fee to leave, and your domain and a copy of your site are yours to keep. We don’t refund part of a month.

Your domain and your content

You own your domain and your content: your business details, the text and photos you give us, and your logo. When you leave, we give you an export of your site that you can host anywhere and keep using. If we registered a new domain for you, we transfer it to you. Our own software, tools and processes stay ours.

Changes to your site

Ask for a change by text, email or in your portal. Small changes come back done, with a link to see them. Visible changes come with a screenshot for you to approve first. Any change can be undone.

What you agree to

  • The information you give us is accurate, and you have the right to use the text, photos and logos you send.
  • You hold any license your trade requires, and you tell us if your details change.
  • You don’t use the service for anything unlawful, misleading or harmful to others.

What we do and don’t promise

We work to keep your site online, accurate and up to date, and to make the changes you ask for. We don’t promise uninterrupted service, a particular response time, search rankings, calls, leads or any other result.

Our service relies on other providers, such as hosting, payments, domain registrars, mailbox providers and Google. Their own terms apply to the parts they provide.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost business, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the three months before it. Previews are provided as they are, without any promise about their content.

If we stop providing the service

We may stop serving a customer with 30 days’ notice, or sooner if a payment remains unpaid after we’ve told you, or if the service is being used unlawfully. Either way, you keep your domain and get an export of your site.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email customers at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last edited.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where it qualifies.
