Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026.

This policy explains what information Localkept collects, why, who helps us handle it, and how you can ask us to change or remove it. In short: we work from information that is already public, we don’t sell or share personal information, and our site uses no advertising or analytics cookies.

Who we are

Localkept is operated by Michael Kissinger, a sole proprietor doing business as Localkept, who is responsible for the information described here. Write to michael@localkept.com with any question.

Information about businesses we build previews for

To build a preview website, we gather what a business already publishes:

  • From the business’s own website: its name, phone, email, address, hours, services, area served and description; the names of its owner and team where the site gives them; its prices, offers, policies and payment options; certifications, awards and years in business; reviews quoted on the site; its logo; and its photos.
  • From public licensing records, for licensed trades: the license number, classification and status, its issue and expiry dates, and the business name, phone and city on record.

Some of this can be about a person, for example when a business is named after its owner or lists an owner’s email. We use it only to build the preview and to contact the business about it. A preview shows the business’s logo but never its own photos: its images are stock-style pictures made with AI, which don’t show the business’s people, premises or work. We may save a copy of the photos on its website; they are used only if the business becomes a customer and chooses them.

Emails we send to businesses

We email a business at its public address to show it its preview. Each email says that it is a business offer from Localkept and how to opt out. Reply to opt out, or remove your preview with one click. We stop within 10 business days at most, and we keep the address on a do-not-contact list so we don’t write again.

When someone opens a preview

We record which page of the preview was opened, when, and whether the visit looked automated. We don’t record IP addresses, and previews set no cookies of their own and use no trackers. A preview’s map comes from Google Maps and loads only if the visitor chooses “Show map”; Google’s privacy policy applies to it then. Previews expire after 30 days, and an owner can remove theirs at any time.

Our website’s forms

  • Find your preview: we use the phone number you enter only to look up a preview and re-send its link to the email address we originally wrote to, never to an address you type in. We don’t keep the number you entered.
  • Ask for a preview: we keep the business name, website, phone and email you give us so we can review the request, check the business is yours, and reply.
  • Bot checks: both forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending them. Cloudflare processes technical information about your browser and connection for this.

Customers

When you subscribe, we keep your name, email and mobile number, your business’s details, the content you give us, and the messages you send us by text, email or in your portal. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. On the Google Business Profile plan, you give us access to manage your profile, and you can remove that access at any time.

Who helps us

We use these providers to run Localkept. They handle information only to provide their service to us:

  • Cloudflare: hosting for our site and previews, our database and files, and bot checks.
  • Google Workspace: our email.
  • Instantly: sending our emails to businesses and keeping the do-not-contact list.
  • Resend: emails our website sends, such as a re-sent preview link.
  • Anthropic: AI that finds a business’s website, reads its public pages to gather the facts above, and writes the preview’s text.
  • OpenAI: AI that creates a preview’s stock-style images and cleans up a business’s logo.
  • Google Maps: the map on a preview.
  • Twilio: text messages with customers.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Domain and mailbox providers: registering or connecting a customer’s domain and setting up their mailbox.

We don’t sell personal information, share it for advertising, or let others use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

  • Previews and their visit records: we stop showing a preview as soon as it expires or is removed, and delete its pages and visit records within 30 days after that.
  • Preview requests: up to 12 months after we reply.
  • The record of who we wrote to about a preview (the business’s name, phone, the address we emailed, and when): 24 months after the preview ends.
  • The do-not-contact list: for as long as we send email, so we keep honoring it.
  • Customer information: while you’re a customer, and afterwards only as long as tax and legal records require.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you or your business, and to stop contacting you. Write to michael@localkept.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. Removing a preview takes it offline straight away.

Security

Information travels over encrypted connections, access to our systems is limited to the people who need it, and previews are reachable only through their private links.

Children

Localkept is a service for businesses. It isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top and email customers before the change takes effect.
